Some doodles of female batarians… I’m trying to find a way of drawing them that really clicks with me. I find myself going back and forth between a lot of things. For example, the band things that run from the nose to the throat… I kinda think it would be a cool bit of sexual dimorphism if the males were the ones with the band… Maybe they evolved so that females would choose males based on the size or colour of their face-band. The females would have no need of one… hence the lady on the bottom left. Alternatively, the lady on the top right has bands, but they’re much smaller. Either way, I’m very tempted to make this my head-canon.
Other head-canons:
- Female batarians (as seen here) have two breasts and nurse very similarly to how humans do. However, their breasts swell up only when they’re ovulating, and become flat during the rest of their cycle. If they become pregnant, then the breasts stay swollen all throughout pregnancy and until about a year after they stop breast-feeding.
-Female batarians tend to be tall and very lean, with long torsos and legs. On average they are several inches taller than males, though they still weigh less. Their hips tend to be quite narrow. Because they have such a slender pelvis, they can’t give birth to very large young. Batarian infants tend to weigh only 2-3kg. They also have a very soft head (much softer than a human baby) that gives way significantly during birth.
- Female batarians follow an Estrous cycle rather than a Menstrual one. This cycle occurs about twice per year, and lasts for about a month. The actual Estrus tends to last for about 5-10 days. During this time, a female batarian reaches her peak sexual arousal. However, like human females, batarian females can become sexually aroused and engage in intercourse just about any time during her cycle. She can only become pregnant, however, during the Estrus period. This means that batarians don’t usually need to use protection during sex, unless there’s a possible risk of an STI.
-Humans and Batarians are actually the most sexually compatible of all the alien species (aside from Asari.) Unfortunately due to social tensions, very few humans or batarians know this.
- While Batarians are biologically capable of being very sexual, Batarians living under the Hegemony (particularly those living on Khar’shan) are very reserved, and don’t discuss sexual behaviour in public. They follow strict marital customs, and traditionally a husband is only supposed to sleep with his wife when she is in Estrus. (Though many couples don’t follow this rule perfectly.)
-Batarians living outside the Hegemony however, have very different practices. They engage in frequent pre-marital sex, and tend to be much more open and comfortable with sexuality.

…Hmm, that’s it for tonight. Mostly just head-canons about sex (of course hahah) Maybe I’ll get more into my opinions on their culture and such some other time.
Thanks for reading!

Turian, Volus, Quarian, Krogan and Batarian edition

Turian: Turians place far more emphasis on birth celebrations than they do coupling. A commitment between turians couples is sanctioned by the Hierarchy and may be observed with a small gathering of friends and family, but the spiritual aspect…

The only Novi Stars/Monster High hybrid I’ve cared to make. She is such a beautiful ice bear alien goddess. She is on a Picture Day Spectra body, it has a few paint scratches, but I’ll find a creative way to jazz those up and hide them.

She is wearing the dress from the LaDeeDa fairytale Ice Queen doll I picked up on clearance for 5 bucks. Shoes are from ABSPlastic on Etsy.

I’m really excited to start making some glorious outfits for her. She needs a name though, it hasn’t come to me yet.

This is pretty much the first time I’ve really seen myself in profile… I look different than how I imagined myself. My lips are way smaller… my nose is way bigger… I didn’t know my over- bite was so pronounced. Hm.
